12. Juni 2021 8:00 – 20:00
We will be demonstrating in Berlin, because of the rapid disappearance of socio-cultural venues, clubs, self-determined housing & free spaces. These spaces of urgency are crucial for Berlin’s unique identity and urban resilience in total. Next to raising awareness for disappearing spaces in Berlin, we stand In solidarity with Spaces of Urgency in Colombia, Holland, Pallestine, Exarchia (Greece) & Tbilisi (Georgia).
WHAT IS THE URGENCY?
Space of Urgency stands alongside sister movements and sees the unification of intersectional alliances as important as our mission. We stand in deep solidarity with other environmental, feminist, worker union, migrant, right to the city, movements, by manifestating and protesting together. Our international struggles are all intertwined through state oppression and occupation. Space of Urgency stands for collective liberation, collective justice, community care & resilience. Concrete solutions are transmitted, so needs are bridged to politicians and public authorities, navigating processes for the development of corrective policy and long-term impacts for our city(s). We take this day to shape our own urban environments in a loud & critical way! We demand grassroots urban co-creation of cities – real participation in policy transformation by activists, artists and social-cultural initiatives who actively are shaping their habitats! We demand protection for self-organized community spaces in Berlin and abroad! We demand the right to shape our cities!
DEMANDS FOR BERLIN
* Support of a Task Force through which spaces under threat can mediate with politics, administration and property investors under equal terms.
* Improve the access and bureaucratic conditions for non commercial social and cultural events in public and outdoors spaces
*Urban development and cultural policy needs to reflect the needs of Spaces of Urgency and their communities through real collaboration and participation.
HYGIENE
We recognize the seriousness of COVID and consider the protective measures to be important and largely reasonable. We believe that following the rules shows consideration for everyone’s well being, and that it is an act of solidarity with our communities. We firmly dissociate ourselves from Corona deniers, Reichsbürger and Enabling Act relativists, and hereby make it clear that such people are not welcome at our demonstration! We want to show what a responsible self organized scene looks like! Acting in accordance with Corona rules is of the utmost importance. Those who wish to stand up for their own rights, must respect the rights of all!
This means:- Wear an FFP2 mask
– Keep a distance of 1,5m
– Step aside from the demonstration to smoke
– Take a corona test before participating in the demonstration
– No Alcohol!
